AdventHealth Cardiovascular Institute

AdventHealth Cardiovascular Institute, formerly known as Florida Hospital, is highly proficient in heart valve repair and replacement. Renowned worldwide for its extensive expertise, successful outcomes, and high volume of procedures, valve surgery has become a routine practice at our Institute.

In 2017, AdventHealth outperformed all other medical facilities in the state by conducting over 865 valve surgeries, encompassing both aortic and mitral valves. Our cardiac care program, which has received accolades, not only surpasses the expectations set by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons but also serves as a comprehensive training facility for visiting surgeons from across the nation and around the globe.

According to the American Heart Association, approximately five million individuals are diagnosed with valve disease annually. Valve disease can occur either before birth (congenital) or during one's lifetime. As a leading Valve Center of Excellence, AdventHealth is at the forefront of pioneering techniques, including minimally invasive procedures and small incisions. "Heart valve surgery can be exceptionally intricate, and the collective experience of our entire team is crucial. We collaborate to ensure that each patient achieves optimal results and benefits from an unmatched level of expertise," says Dr. Kevin Accola, Medical Director of the Valve Center of Excellence.
