The Alta Bates Summit Cardiovascular Center of Excellence is renowned nationally as a leading heart center, offering exceptional cardiac care provided by a team of highly skilled heart doctors and cardiac specialists. Our program utilizes cutting-edge technology for diagnostic and treatment procedures, ensuring personalized care and a strong collaboration between our physicians and patients. We consistently achieve outcomes that surpass or meet national benchmarks.
As pioneers in California, we have made significant advancements in the field of minimally invasive heart surgery. Alta Bates Summit Medical Center was the first center on the West Coast and the second center in the United States to employ minimally invasive vein harvesting during coronary artery bypass surgery. Since then, we have expanded our expertise to include port access valve surgery, a technique for valve repair and replacement. We are proud to serve as a teaching center for this innovative procedure.
Our team comprises a cohesive group of experienced professionals, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, specialty physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff. Together, we provide our patients with the highest level of care and increase their chances of achieving excellent outcomes.
Through our Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) program, we have successfully treated high-risk, inoperable patients suffering from symptomatic severe calcific-degenerative aortic valve stenosis. TAVR significantly reduces the invasiveness of the procedure, equivalent to heart catheterization. Our TAVR outcomes consistently meet or exceed national benchmarks, with the majority of our patients being discharged home within two or three days. In many cases, the procedure can be performed without general anesthesia, leading to a quicker recovery and reduced risk.
We are dedicated to providing exceptional cardiovascular care, and we are here to serve our patients with the utmost commitment and expertise.
