About Dr. David Adams, Heart Surgeon
Greetings! I'm Dr. David Adams, a cardiac surgeon who graduated from Duke University in 1983. Throughout my career, I've conducted approximately 6,000 cardiac surgeries, with a significant focus on heart valve procedures, accounting for 4,000 cases. Currently, I am actively practicing at Mount Sinai Hospital.
One of my notable strengths lies in the exceptional team of valve specialists I've assembled as the Chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai. Our team caters to patients who travel from all around the country and the world to seek our expertise.
At Mount Sinai, we have established the Mitral Valve Repair Reference Center, specifically designed to handle complex operations involving patients with intricate valve conditions or etiologies. Our team has achieved a remarkable 99% repair rate for mitral valve disease, setting a national benchmark that we aim to see replicated in medical centers across the United States. Personally, I perform over 300 mitral valve reconstructions each year.
