About Dr. Husam Balkhy, Heart Surgeon
Greetings! I'm Dr. Husam Balkhy, a cardiac surgeon who graduated from KAU College of Medicine in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1987. Over the years, I have performed around 4,000 cardiac surgeries, with 1,800 of them involving heart valve procedures. Currently, I am actively practicing surgery at the University of Chicago Medicine.
One of my greatest strengths is my unwavering dedication to being an advocate for my patients. I empathize with their situations and find immense satisfaction in simplifying complex cardiac surgical procedures, ensuring they understand every step of the process.
In today's era of numerous medical options, I make it a priority to educate my patients about the different therapeutic choices available to them. I believe in empowering them to make informed decisions about their own healthcare. Furthermore, I strongly support the utilization of safe and minimally invasive surgical techniques, leveraging the latest advancements in technology. By adopting these approaches, we can reduce trauma, promote faster recovery, and maintain the effectiveness of the procedure.
