About Dr. Marc Gillinov, Heart Surgeon
Greetings! I'm Dr. Marc Gillinov, a cardiovascular surgeon affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic. After completing my medical education at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1988, I dedicated my career to performing cardiac surgeries. Throughout my experience, I have successfully conducted around 7,000 cardiac surgeries, with a specific focus on heart valve procedures, accounting for approximately 5,000 cases.
I consider my greatest strength to be a combination of two essential factors. Firstly, I can customize the surgical approach based on each patient's needs. This ranges from employing cutting-edge techniques like robotic and minimally invasive surgery to more traditional methods, always prioritizing the option that guarantees the best outcomes and safety for the individual. Secondly, I approach my work with compassion. In every case and every decision I make, I consider the patient's perspective, envisioning what I would desire if I were in their position.
