About Dr. Paul Anaya, Heart Surgeon
Dr. Paul Anaya is a renowned cardiologist and a professor of medicine at the University of Kentucky. He is the medical director of the nuclear lab and the cardiac intensive care unit at the Gill Heart & Vascular Institute, where he treats patients with heart failure, coronary heart disease, and peripheral vascular disease.
He also performs procedures such as echocardiography, stress testing, and nuclear cardiology. He has a PhD in molecular physiology and biophysics from Baylor College of Medicine, where he also obtained his medical degree. He completed his residency and fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine, specializing in cardiac critical care, heart failure and transplantation, and echocardiography. He has been in practice for over 20 years and has published several research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
He is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is also a diversity ambassador for the College of Medicine and a Saha Cardiovascular Research Center member.
