Aveir VR

« Back to Glossary Index

Aveir VR (also known as Avegraft VR ) is a type of endovascular stent graft used in the treatment of aortic aneurysms. An aortic aneurysm is a weakened area in the wall of the aorta, the main blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body, that can balloon out and potentially rupture.

The Aveir VR is a minimally invasive device that is inserted through a small incision in the leg and guided to the aneurysm through the blood vessels. The device is positioned within the aneurysm to reinforce the weakened wall and prevent rupture.

The Aveir VR is manufactured by Abbott Laboratories and is made of a combination of metal and fabric components and is designed to be durable and long-lasting. The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia and typically requires a shorter recovery time compared to traditional open surgical repair.
