Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

« Back to Glossary Index

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is the medical term used to describe enlarged prostate. It is highly recommended to visit a doctor if you experience symptoms such as increased urination, difficult and painful urination, feeling of incomplete emptying after urinating, reduced flow of urine, and feeling that your bladder has not emptied fully. While it’s natural for your prostate to grow as you age, it can become a serious problem if it becomes enlarged. This is why it’s important to get a regular checkup.

  • Dietary Changes:

Reduce your intake of high-fat foods, saturated fat, refined sugars, high glycemic index foods, alcohol, and caffeine. Fruits and vegetables are rich sources of flavonoids and carotenoids, which are good for your prostate health. Limiting the intake of animal protein reduces the size of your prostate.

  • Exercise:

Regular exercise helps to improve blood flow to the male reproductive system. It lowers stress levels and decreases anxiety, depression, and insomnia. It also relaxes muscles in your body.
