Electromyography (EMG) is a technique used to measure the electrical activity of muscles. It is used to diagnose neuromuscular disorders, such as muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and carpal tunnel syndrome. EMG is also used to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them. During an EMG test, a small needle electrode is inserted into the muscle to measure the electrical activity of the muscle. The results of the test can help diagnose muscle and nerve disorders, as well as provide information about the overall health of the muscle.
