EsophyX is a medical device used in endoluminal fundoplication, a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). EsophyX is designed to recreate the barrier between the stomach and esophagus that is damaged in GERD, helping to prevent stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus. The device is inserted through the mouth and guided to the stomach using an endoscope. Once in place, the device uses a combination of mechanical and tissue approximation to recreate the barrier and provide a long-term solution for GERD. The EsophyX procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis and can offer patients an alternative to more invasive surgical options.
