Gynecare TVT

« Back to Glossary Index

Gynecare TVT (tension-free vaginal tape) is a type of surgical mesh that is used to treat stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women. SUI is a condition in which a woman experiences leakage of urine during physical activity, such as coughing, sneezing, or exercising. Gynecare TVT is a minimally invasive procedure that is performed through a small incision in the vagina. The mesh is placed under the urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body) to support it and prevent leakage.

Gynecare TVT

Gynecare TVT is a safe and effective treatment option for SUI. However, like all surgical procedures, it carries the risk of complications, such as infection, bleeding, and pain. Some women may also experience complications related to the mesh, such as erosion (when the mesh erodes through the tissue) or contraction (when the mesh shrinks or hardens). If you are considering Gynecare TVT or have questions about the procedure, it is important to speak with a healthcare professional for more information.
