Oxygenation Assessment

The process of evaluating the amount of oxygen in the body and how it is being used. Oxygenation assessments may be performed using a variety of methods, including pulse oximetry, blood gas analysis, and oxygen saturation monitoring. Oxygenation assessments are typically done to diagnose and monitor respiratory or circulatory disorders, such as pneumonia or heart failure, or to assess the effectiveness of oxygen therapy or mechanical ventilation. Oxygenation assessments may also be used to monitor the progress of critically ill patients, such as those in intensive care units.
