Stretta

« Back to Glossary Index

Stretta is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is a type of endoscopic procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to reduce the size of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). This helps to reduce the amount of acid that refluxes into the esophagus, thus reducing the symptoms of GERD. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes about an hour to complete. It is usually done as an outpatient procedure and patients can usually return home the same day.
