About
Axonics Modulation Technologies is a medical technology company that develops innovative solutions to treat chronic conditions such as overactive bladder (OAB), fecal incontinence, and urinary retention. The company is headquartered in Irvine, California, and was founded in 2013.
Axonics Modulation Technologies’ main product is the Axonics System, a rechargeable implantable neuromodulation device designed to provide long-term relief for patients suffering from OAB and other related conditions. The Axonics System works by delivering mild electrical impulses to the sacral nerves located in the lower back, which are responsible for controlling the bladder and bowel.
The Axonics System is significantly smaller than other neuromodulation devices currently available, making it more comfortable for patients to wear. The device is implanted under the skin of the patient’s upper buttock and can be recharged using an external charger that is placed over the implant. The Axonics System is designed to last at least 15 years, longer than many other neuromodulation devices.
The Axonics System has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Union (EU) for the treatment of OAB, fecal incontinence, and urinary retention. The device has also received a CE Mark, which means it meets the safety and performance requirements set by the EU.

1 –Â Bulkamid
Bulkamid is a type of injectable bulking agent used to treat urinary incontinence, which is the involuntary loss of urine. It is made from a gel-like substance called polyacrylamide hydrogel (PAHG), which is injected into the tissues surrounding the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body).
The PAHG in Bulkamid is designed to provide support to the tissues around the urethra, which can help improve urinary control. Bulkamid is a minimally invasive treatment that can be performed in a doctor’s office or outpatient setting and typically takes about 30 minutes to complete.
Bulkamid has been shown to be effective in treating stress urinary incontinence, which is leakage of urine that occurs during physical activities such as coughing, sneezing, or exercising. It is also a safe and well-tolerated treatment option, with few side effects.
2 –Â Axonics
The Axonics SNM system is designed to provide therapy to patients suffering from overactive bladder (OAB), urinary retention, and fecal incontinence. The system consists of a small implantable device that is placed under the skin in the upper buttock area, along with an external remote control that allows patients to adjust the therapy settings.
The device works by sending mild electrical impulses to the sacral nerves, which are located near the base of the spine and help control bladder and bowel function. By stimulating these nerves, the Axonics SNM system can help improve bladder and bowel control, reduce urinary and fecal leakage, and improve the quality of life for patients.
