1 – LINX™
LINX™ is a brand name for a device used to treat Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) in adults. It is a small, flexible ring of magnets that is surgically implanted around the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) to help keep it closed and prevent stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus. The procedure to implant the LINX™ device is typically performed using minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, and it is intended to be a permanent implant.
The LINX™ device is designed to allow food and liquids to pass through the LES while preventing stomach acid from refluxing back into the esophagus. It is considered a safe and effective alternative to traditional GERD treatments such as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) or surgery to strengthen the LES. However, it is important to note that the LINX™ device is not suitable for everyone and it’s important to discuss the risks and benefits of the procedure with a qualified healthcare provider before deciding whether to undergo the treatment.
2 – ARTISYN®
ARTISYN® is a medical device used in pelvic surgery for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse. It is a type of mesh that is designed to support the pelvic organs by attaching to the sacrum and the vagina. The Y-shape allows for a stronger and more stable attachment to the sacrum, reducing the risk of mesh erosion or other complications. The ARTISYN® mesh is made from a biocompatible material that is safe for use in the body and is typically inserted through a minimally invasive surgical procedure.
3 – GYNECARE TVT™
GYNECARE TVT™ is a brand name for a type of surgical mesh used to treat stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women. The mesh is inserted through the vagina and positioned under the mid-urethra to provide support and prevent leakage. It is a minimally invasive procedure and has been used successfully in many patients.
However, there have been some reported complications associated with the use of mesh in general, such as infection, pain, and erosion of the mesh into the surrounding tissue. It is important to discuss the potential risks and benefits of the procedure with a qualified healthcare provider before deciding to undergo treatment with GYNECARE TVT™ or any other mesh product.
