About
ReShape Lifesciences Inc. is a medical device company that specializes in developing and commercializing innovative technologies to treat obesity and metabolic diseases. Founded in 2002, the company is headquartered in San Clemente, California.
The company’s flagship product is the ReShape Balloon™, which is a non-surgical weight loss solution for people who are struggling with obesity. The device is inserted into the stomach through the mouth and then inflated with saline solution, creating a feeling of fullness and reducing the amount of food a person can eat. The ReShape Balloon™ is designed to be temporary and is removed after six months.
ReShape Lifesciences also offers a range of other products and services, including the ReShape Vest™, a non-surgical weight loss solution that uses a vest to create a feeling of fullness, and the ReShapeCare™ virtual weight management program, which provides patients with personalized coaching and support to help them achieve their weight loss goals.

1 – ReShape Vest™
ReShape Vest™ is a medical device designed to help people lose weight by reducing the capacity of their stomach. It is a non-surgical, minimally invasive device that is placed around the stomach through a small incision in the abdomen. Once in place, the device is inflated with a saline solution, which creates a feeling of fullness and reduces the amount of food that can be eaten at one time.
The ReShape Vest™ is intended to be used as part of a comprehensive weight loss program that includes diet and exercise. The device is adjustable, which means that it can be inflated or deflated to meet the individual needs of each patient. It is also removable and can be taken out at any time if necessary.
Clinical studies have shown that the ReShape Vest™ can be an effective tool for weight loss, with patients losing an average of 29% of their excess body weight. The device is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is considered a safe and effective alternative to weight loss surgery for individuals who are obese and have not been successful with traditional weight loss methods.
2 – vBloc®
vBloc® is a medical device designed to help individuals struggling with obesity to achieve and maintain weight loss. It works by using a technique known as vagal blocking, which involves blocking the signals that travel along the vagus nerve – a nerve that connects the brain to the stomach and other organs.
vBloc® is a small, implantable device that is placed just beneath the skin in the chest area. It is connected to two electrodes that are wrapped around the vagus nerve. When the device is turned on, it delivers electrical impulses to the nerve, which effectively blocks the nerve’s signals from reaching the brain. This can help to reduce feelings of hunger and fullness, and can ultimately lead to weight loss.
The vBloc® device is FDA-approved for use in adults who have a body mass index (BMI) between 40 and 45, or a BMI between 35 and 39.9 with at least one obesity-related health condition such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea. It is intended to be used in conjunction with a comprehensive weight-loss program that includes dietary and lifestyle changes, as well as regular exercise.
3 – Obalon®
Obalon® is a medical device used for weight loss management. It is a swallowable capsule that contains a deflated balloon. Once the capsule reaches the stomach, a healthcare professional inflates the balloon with gas using a thin tube. The inflated balloon takes up space in the stomach, creating a feeling of fullness and reducing hunger.
The Obalon® system typically involves the use of three balloons, spaced a few weeks apart, to create a long-term effect. The device is intended to be used as part of a comprehensive weight loss program that includes diet and exercise.
Obalon® is a non-surgical weight loss treatment option that has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is designed for adults who have a body mass index (BMI) between 30 and 40 and who have not been able to lose weight through diet and exercise alone. The device is not suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions, including gastrointestinal disorders.
